Madhatter’s Southend

Firstly, I would like to say Happy New Year to you all! I know it has been a while since I have posted as the second part of 2019 was a crazy one with finally getting the keys to our house, a complete house renovation and moving in just in time for Christmas! However, I am back and set myself a resolution to post more regularly for you lovely lot! 🙂

On the 23rd December 2019 we visited Madhatter’s cafe in a local town of Southend-On-Sea before heading to see Diversity in the Robin Hood pantomime at the Cliff’s Pavilion to celebrate my birthday! I had read so many amazing reviews on TripAdvisor so was looking forward to visiting.

Madhatters is a family run cafe located at 2 Queens Road, which is just off of Southend High Street and a 5 minute walk from Southend Victoria train station so was super easy to find. It is open daily from 9am til 4:30pm (apart from Sundays where it is open 10am – 3:30pm).

Madhatter’s offers a range of food depending on what you fancy from breakfast, brunches, lunches, a selection of afternoon teas for different occasions and an assortment of cakes if you just fancy that something sweet. They also make cakes to order and hold Princess or Superheroes for your little ones!

After visiting I can definitely confirm that this little gem lives up to the hype! The staff were lovely and friendly and there was such a welcoming atmosphere so you felt right at home straight away. I absolutely loved the attention to detail from the quirky interior to the cutlery, tableware and even the menus. As we were visiting in the Christmas period the Christmas decorations continued the theming and felt so cosy and festive!

Being a typical British girl I am a massive tea fan and the variety to choose from did not make the decision easy! I decided to go for the Rooibos Strawberry and Cream tea which was amazing and my boyfriend decided to go for a milk hot chocolate flavoured with a shot of strawberry and topped with cream and marshmallows. For food I chose a buttermilk pancake stack topped with smoked streaky bacon and warm maple syrup which was delicious and my boyfriend went for a full english breakfast! Yum! 🙂

We had such a lovely experience for my birthday brunch and I will definitely be returning to try out one of the afternoon tea’s!

Love,

Hannah ♥
